Reason for leaving: I started working there in 1998 - 2010. It was for 12 years, I finished matric and started with my studies. Their mother started to work from home. I still babysat on weekens and part time.
Duties: I would look after them during the evening when their mom worked night shift. I would feed them ,bath and dress them, played with them, build puzzles, watch movies and then put to sleep. In the mornings we would get up and I would give them breakfast and then their mom came home. I changed nappies when they were babies, assisted with brushing teeth etc. I sometimes looked after them during the day when their mom went out, we would go swimming etc.
Do you know the applicant? Yes
How do you know the applicant? I have known her since my son (now 16) was born. She lived across from us and used to baby-sit my children.
What were the applicant's responsibilities whilst working for you? She looked after my children when we were out or sometimes working in the evenings. She had to occupy them, assist with homework sometimes. There was also times that she had full responsibility for them over weekends or a few days (when I was in hospital and my husband worked away), she then took them out on outings or shopping etc.
How long did the applicant work for you, from when to when? It must be around 10-12 years, she started assisting when she was still very young. She stopped assisting about 3 years ago.
Were you happy with the applicant's interaction with the children and yourself (was she always creating new activities for them to do? etc.)? Yes, they still ask about her. She still visits us and when it is the children┬┤s birthday, she would let them bake a cake with her, they loved that.
Did you ever have any issues with time keeping or responsibilities that were not to your satisfaction? No, she was very quiet in the beginning, but once she got used to it, she was great.
Why did the applicant leave your employment? My children grew up and she moved away.
Would you hire the applicant again, if not, why? Yes
